The Tanglewood Cabin
--
Read below for additional detail about this vacation cabin:
Previous renters tell us one of the main reasons they rented our cabin, and will rent it again, is because of its LOCATION. It is only 1 mile from the lake (see map) and 3 miles from the Heavenly Valley Ski Resort, all casinos, the California/Nevada border, and lots of shopping. Sierra at Tahoe ski resort and many snow play areas are a short drive away. The City of South Lake Tahoe Recreation Center and Swim Pool Complex, with ice skating rink, is only 4 miles away. We have several golf courses nearby, including the Bijou Golf Course , Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, Tahoe Paradise Golf Course, and Sierra Nevada Golf Ranch. These attractions are a short drive or you can catch the great "Blue Go" shuttle service near the cabin. The cabin is also walking distance to the lake, bars and restaurants. There are great unpaved and paved bike and walking trails that start only two blocks away, and (in the spring and summer) a large meadow for picnics and sports is footsteps away from the front door. Snowplowing in winter IS provided by our Homeowner's Association, so access is not a problem. :-)

The purpose of Philly Koinonia Ministries is to provide opportunities of fellowship that focus on worshipping God by effectively using the gifts and talents that He's given to us. It is through this fellowship, that our audiences needs of evangelism, discipleship, and ministry are addressed to help communicate solutions to various issues that continually plague our communities and the body of Christ.
Created in 2001, Philly Koinonia Ministries has programs such as the Youth Ministry Basketball League (Y.M.B.L.) to provide a uniquely structured outlet of fellowship for athletes to express their God-given talents in front of their families and friends within the comforts of a Christian environment without the worries of drugs, violence, etc. After recently tipping off its inaugural season for men, the Y.M.B.L. is now one of the few basketball programs in this region that unifies Churches with leagues for men, women, and youth. In addition to our Youth Ministry Basketball League for Men, Women, and Youth, our additional fellowshipping opportunities are our Special Conferences for Men, Women, and Family; and the Philly Koinonia Clothing & Hunger Relief Programs. |

Social and Recreation Activities for Orphans in Plovdiv - Summer 2006 |

Charity project of CADIP will try to make a difference in the hard life of the orphans in Plovdiv, Bulgaria during their summer break.
"Rodopski pansion" is one of the biggest social establishments of that kind in Bulgaria, providing home and care for more than 140 young people at the ages of 9 to 16. Most of them have grown up in other children's social homes, and, when becoming teenagers, they come to "Rodopski pansion" in Plovdiv. They attend different high schools in the town.
The socially disadvantaged background of most of the children is considered to be the reason for many problems, which they face in school, in their contacts with other people, in their everyday life. Those who have completed 19 years are not subject of social care any more. They have to leave the orphanage and start an independent living. Many of them turn to be unprepared to make this step after spending all their lives up to now in Social care institutions. That's why the interaction with other young people from different countries while working, playing, learning together in the frame of an international volunteer project is essential for their socialization and adaptation.
The volunteers will be engaged with organizing variety of activities like: sports events, gardening, group games, thematic workshops, walks in the city of Plovdiv, visits to different sights and events, etc. for the children and the youngsters in order to optimize their free time during the summer period. Some maintenance and domestic works will be done together with the residents.
Because of the lack of funds and the difficult economic situation of the social establishment, the volunteers are invited to contribute with their creativity, enthusiasm and ideas. They have to know that this is definitely not a touristic or leisure program in which they just have to join in with the orphans. The experience of more than five years proves that even without expensive events, this can be an unforgettable and really rewarding time for the both sides - the volunteers and the youngsters.
The Orphanage is planning a new playground for the kids. If they get support from the sponsors and the construction starts as anticipated, the volunteers will help with the final works, cleaning the site and decoration of the playing equipment.
Project dates:
July 2 - July 15, 2006
July 16 - July 29, 2006
July 30 - August 12, 2006
August 13 - August 26, 2006
Depending on the availability of free places, a volunteer may join more than one project. Keep in mind that a short-term volunteer workcamp is a very dynamic and emotionally intense experience and requires higher personal commitment, comparable to that in longer volunteer projects.
Accommodation and food will be provided for the participants at the orphanage boarding house.
Volunteers from 18 to 35 from all over the world are welcome to join these camps.
Detailed information about the project with pictures you can find on: www.cadip.org/plovdiv.htm
